Timestamp issues with stock SMS messaging app?

I've had the HTC One M8 through Sprint for a couple months now and have been loving it. However, for the past couple days the stock SMS messaging app has been displaying incoming texts with the wrong timestamp. More specifically, incoming texts display exactly 4 hours behind the actual time. Yet, if I reply to them, the outgoing timestamp is correct. As you can imagine, things get confusing pretty fast with this issue.

I tried a bunch of things through Sprint troubleshooting:

-Setting phone date, time, location to update automatically via network, as well as setting manually (both options didn't work)
-Updating device PRL and profile
-Restarting numerous times
-Clearing cache of the app
-Factory resetting

Even after the factory reset, the problem persisted. That's when I noticed something odd: the error only occurs if I set the stock app as my default SMS app. Setting my default app to Textra or G Hangouts showed correct incoming timestamps respectively, however, the timestamps in the stock app began coming in correctly too! But as SOON as I changed the stock app back to default, the error persisted again! I'm at my wits end at how to fix this. Any suggestions?

I could have wrote the exact same thing. I have an open ticket with HTC support.

It has been intermittent and I suspect it depends on what carrier the incoming sms is from...
