I am new to the Android community as the Evo 3D is my 1st ever Android phone. I was just wondering tips and tricks on keeping my phone running smoothly, efficient and fun! I already have Task Killer and Startup Cleaner installed on my phone but I was wondering of any other apps you Android vets out there would recommend (whether it be a free app or a paid app). Also any fun/cool widgets and/or apps to put on my phone.

Thanks to all who contribute!

Are you rooted with a custom recovery/

system tuner, free from the market
Flash Image GUI for flashing boot img $1.00 from the market

Rooted...?? Is that like jail-breaking an iPod/iPhone?

And is system tuner available to those who are not rooted?

You don't need the Task Killer - it's built into the drop down menu, under the Quick Settings tab at the bottom of the page. Also, install the Amazon Appstore to take advantage of the free app of the day. They're usually cheesy games, but sometimes the free app is excellent and worth the price even if it weren't free. You have to setup a one-click purchase with your Amazon account, but they won't charge for the freebies. It's no different than the Google Marketplace in that respect.

Also install Getjar. It has all kinds of apps for free that are normaly pay. Also if you have to ever turn off your ringer for work or something else and have a tendency to forget to turn it back on. Try out Shush! it's great for that. You can preset your phone to turn the ringer back on automatically after a set time. You can even set the what volume you want it @ when it turns the ringer back on.

I agree...GetJar, Amazon are pointless which take up space and bog down your system. Just go with the built in app store and task manager. People in here have different views, I find the best way to get acclimated to your phone is to just play with the thing and read the sticky notes. There are tons of threads floating around out there to give you what you need.

Check out the top of each page on Android Central. Click on Getting Started and Android Help & How-To for a wealth of info. :D

I don't know anything about GetJar, but I disagree about Amazon. It's not a big app, taking up only about 6.5MB on my phone. Most of the free apps are lame games, low rated and sluggish. They are free, though. I have it because there are many days when the free app is fantastic, be it a great game or an excellent utility or office suite. Here are a few examples: Bejeweled 2, Abduction2, Cut the Rope, Fieldrunners, Chuzzle, Fancy Widget Pro, Frogger, Jenga, Angry Birds (add free), PacMan, Paper Camera, PrintShare Mobile, App 2 SD Pro, Documents To Go, Office Suite Pro 5, WiFi File Explorer Pro, PicSay Pro, Plants vs. Zombies, Quickoffice Pro, Pocketbooth, SwiftKey X...

I have about 120 apps in all. I don't get the app every day because I just don't want or need all of them. But the ones I have gotten total up to nearly $350. Not bad for free. Especially some of the utilities and office suites they have. These aren't bull apps developed by hack programmers - they are the same apps on the Marketplace and full versions, at that.

If u want good battery life then juice defender is a must have! It will definitely extend ur battery life. I would either get the plus version or the ultimate version. Give it a day our 2 to adjust to ur phone. But I will tell it is definitely worth the money for it!

I say don't junk your phone up with junky crap. Store only what is needed to survive.

Lol this made me laugh....

Our EVO3d's have a 1gb internal memory for a reason... Apps... Even completly full the phone will run beast. The same as If it had no apps, so what's this junk you speak of?
