Does anyone know if its gotten better as of March 2018?? I hated the fact that I had to return it because of this. I would've thought the new os update to have fixed this somewhat but didn't keep it long enough because it never had service

I just started using the Essential Phone in NYC with T-Mobile as my secondary phone. Currently have the Pixel 2 as my primary and I must say that there is usually at least -20 signal difference between the two phones. The Pixel 2 would be in the 80s while the Essential would be in the 100s. Its very weird but I've done multiple comparisons between the two using LTE Discovery and no matter what the Pixel is always better. I've tried changing the setting from Global, to LTE and 4G/LTE with no difference.

first 2~3 months i've had it, its always shown as LTE+ on tmobiles network. no issues at all. then past month, its been dipping into LTE, then hspa and sometimes not even getting signals. I've had tmobile replace my sim. its gotten marginally better if at all. dont know why suddenly things change. ive been with tmobile for a long time and in excellent standing, so i dont know the reason for this discrepancy. nothing about my usage pattern has changed.

i have a crazy theory -not knowing the mechanics of things like this -that something about the way this phone interacts with the sim card is a little off causing it to not to be fully receptive. i, of course, base this only on the fact that I've never had to replace a sim card before except to move micro-sim to mini-sim then to nano- sim. i have no scientific sources to back this up.

It's so strange, my Google Pixel is usually a good -10 to -20 better than the Essential Phone. Currently sitting in my office right across the street from Penn Station. The Pixel 2 is at -79 dBM 61 asu while the Essential Phone is at -92 dBm 48 asu
