to buy or not to buy

I don't know very much about the tablets. I am looking at the galaxy 8.9. I really like the size, but it concerns me that it provides no room for SD card. I will use it as E Reader, to check E mail, go on the internet and play games such as solitare.
Is the lack of expansion slot reason enough not to buy the 8.9 and go to the galaxy 7?
I have a Kindel (not fire; just plain old kindle) and I really would like something a LITTLE larger to look at websites.
Like I said, I really know very little about this subject and could benefit from some of you who have a great deal of knowledge.
Thanks

There are so many cloud options for storing music and movies these days that internal storage is becoming nearly irrelevant.

Redwind30, I was in a very similar situation as you, having a Nook 1st edition. I wasn't very interested in the new Nook color tablet since I didn't want to be tied to B&N for their app selection. I have my second android phone so am familiar with the OS. I purchased the 8.9 about a month ago and haven't had any regrets. Since I buy e-books from B&N, I loaded their free Nook app for android and it works very well (and a lot faster than my old Nook). The larger screen is nice for browsing. I have recently installed Dolphin browser and like it better than the one which comes preloaded. The screen on the tab 8.9 is sharp and bright and the tablet is very responsive. I have about 25 apps (including games) that I have installed and still have over 11 gigs of storage unused. I am very pleased with my tablet.

I would second everything el viejo said to the last letter. I replaced my ereader Kindle with the 8.9 and also love it.

Google Music will store and stream 20,000 songs free of charge.
Most e-readers app will accept and even online back up side loaded e-books
Google docs syncs all documents in the cloud
Dropbox and sugarsync and box all offer free accounts to store miscellanous files.

The only thing real intensive on the tablet itself is games and the pictures. 16gb is plenty
