I have been using my android for 6 months now with my 4 gmail accounts. They are all used for email, only one of them is used for calendar and contacts sync. I have noticed, especially lately that the sync is not necessarily in sync. What I mean is that the info syncs but it is far from quick and nowhere near push. So I was wondering if there is any benefit to deleting my main gmail account (that does contacts, gmail, and calendar) and re-adding it as an activesync exchange account? Would this benefit me in any way and if I did this would I still be able to use it with gmail app?

Do you have an Exchange Server account? Exchange Activesync does just that, syncs Exchange Server accounts, not Gmail accounts.

Push doesn't mean instant even though it typically means instant as well. Push only refers to how the transaction is initiated.

Nope. You can try removing the account and adding it again. How long does the sync take?
