hi
I am a proud owner of a moto g 3
I love it however I'm a bit disappointed with notification sounds esp facebook
it has an ascending volume which I understand I cannot disable
I have done some research and it seems most of it points to "rooting"
I am to say the least a bit of a novice as ive never heard of this before
it sounds to me like "jailbreaking" an iPhone
so my question is: is there any other way of disabling ascending volume?
if not is rooting safe and how on earth do you do it?
is there a "dummies" guide!

I would only advise to root if you are an expert. You can easily mess something up if you don't know what you are doing.

Try Ringtone Maker. You can increase (or decrease) the volume of any sound file, including ringtones.

Nah dude, I used to have Moto E with root and it was not stable at all... Now I am just scared to root my fresh Moto G3 becuase I do not want problems, if you aren't a huge expert you shouldn't do it...

Root in itself is not dangerous at all... It's the extra stuff you do that causes a problem.

Safest way to increase volume would be to unlock the bootloader, download the latest beta SuperSU to your phone, boot (NOT flash) the Moto G Marshmallow beta for TWRP and flash SuperSU (Do NOT use the embedded rooting in TWRP)... Then once that's all verified good, perform the mixer.xml replacement by hp420 in the XDA Development area, it's easily revertable. The added benefit of being able to simply do a full unroot when it's all done and you can still take OTA updates.

What if you poke around in the file system using Windows Explorer or ES File Explorer, and find the file? I found something similar in Computer\MotoG3\Internal storage\media\audio\notifications\facebook_ringtone_pop.m4a

You can open the file and play it to hear if that's the sound you're hearing.

If it is, if you copied this to disk, and replaced it with a .m4a named the same that you like, would this work?
