To update, or not to update...unused apps

So, I don't use the bloatware apps Verizon installs on my phones. I'm wondering if it's better to go ahead and let the market update those apps, or deny the update. Any benefits either way?

Just wasn't sure if it used more memory (or even made a difference), or if it somehow made the phone work together "smoother" somehow...
And rooting is something I'd like to do, but fear I would screw up more than I'd correct...all the lingo/terminology thrown around makes little sense to me :-\ (probably much like my original question to most hackers).

Guess it depends on the app and the update. Sometimes updates fix lagging of apps or optimizes them so that they don't use as much resources & even though you don't use them alot of those stock apps start up on their own so it really depends.
Depending on what kind of phone you have there might be a one-click root app for it. as long as you phone is charged and doesn't shut off while it's doing it's thing you shouldn't have any problems. If there isn't a one click app if you read the instructions first & then just follow it step by step you shouldn't have a problem. Those guides are written for ppl like us who don't understand everything & if you have a question someone will be happy to answer it & help you & then you can get an app from the market to uninstall that crap but the way you root your phone depends on what phone you have & the firmware version so make sure you are using the right root method (if this is something you end up deciding to do.)

That was sort of what I was thinking.
My Samsung S-III should be here soon. I'd love to root. Just don't wanna $600 paper weight either :-\
Currently I have the HTC Dinc2. Want to sell it or the Thunderbolt to help offset the cost of the new one, so can't afford to brick those either...

Lol that's why I use my optimus s to practice on.
