To use a screen protector or not to use a screen protector

I just upgraded from a Fascinate to the Nexus this week. I had a Zagg screen protector on my Fascinate but it started to get wrinkles in it after a while. So i was thinking of not using one on the Nexus and was wondering what others who don't user screen protectors of their GNs think. Any issues with scratches or anything? I tried searching this in the forums but didn't really see anything on it. At least not in the Nexus forums. Any feedback would be awesome thanks

I never use them. You probably will get minor scratches, but they're not noticeable when the screen is on. Minor scratches are no big deal to me. A crack is, which a screen protector will do little to prevent.

I don't use one. I just hate the feeling of the screen protector. It completely ruins the experience of using the phone for me, so its worth the "risk" of not having it. I'm pretty safe with my phones.

Screen protectors are gay. I quit using them years ago. They look bad, orange peel, they fingerprint, goof up the colors, they scratch, and the cost money. Other than that they're great, and I highly recommend you buy 2 or 3 at least.

I use screen protectors. Ive had a bunch of different ones on my ip4s. I use them because the little minor scratches that you can only see with the screen off, drive me nuts. Most of the wet application ones do well on fingerprints but are slightly more "tacky" then glass, where as the dry ones are fingerprint magnets. I should receive the XO skin in the mail today which I've read is really good but I'll find out I guess. Also, I'm waiting on something called t. Glass which is a thin piece of glass with a clear adhesive to protect your glass while still being glass.

The way I see it is this, I don't want to compromise the design on the phone with a case or anything so I use a pouch, and while I love the look and feel of the glass i cannot stand minor imperfections, especially ones that are easily (and cheaply) avoided. I don't mind sacrificing slightly to prolong the value and use of my most used device.

But as the saying goes, whatever blows your hair back.

Don't use um....I will only have the phone for 18 months and then upgrade.. The Nexus to me shows very little finger prints.

I didn't have one on mine for the first few weeks and you can see a few hairline scratches....nothing noticeable. I have one now.....I'd suggest you get one if you ever plan on selling your phone. I always buy my phones out right and then sell the old one on Ebay. It will make a difference in resale.

Don't use a screen protecor, then put on a cheap one after you sell the phone. That way the buyer will think you had one on there, and they won't be able to see the tiny scratches because the plastic will cover them up! :D My wife insisted on one for her iPhone 4S. It looks like crap. $600 phone, with a $5 piece of plastic over the screen. Huh?

Just purchased an anti glare protector from sgp for my tbolt for $15. I kept getting scratches on my screen even though I never had anything else in the same pocket as it. Plus the overhead lights at work suck so I can never see my screen unless I pick the phone up, which defeats the purpose of being discreet. I didn't think I'd like it but after a week of using it I love it. Also covers up the scratches that are on my screen. Oh and it doesn't show any fingerprints or smudges. Definitely worth the $15

I just returned from a Verizon store where I had them install an anti-glare protector on my Nexus. I recently upgraded from a Fascinate. Awhile I didn't have one on my Fascinate... but my sister used one on her HTC Touch. One day she dropped it and the screen shattered, but because she had the screen protector on she was able to keep using the phone until she replaced it. That would not have been possible without the protector.

So, I added one to my Fascinate and now to my Nexus. I also like the way the protector feels to the touch vs touching the glass.

It depends if your phone has gorilla glass. If your phone does, then there's no need as the gorilla glass doesn't scratch. But of it doesn't have thatt glass, then you should use one.

Gorilla Glass will still scratch. All it takes is pressure.

The GN has fortified glass. I thought about buying a SP, but instead I use a sleeve. It never leaves a stable state without being in the sleeve. Scratch free so far (> 1 month), and hopefully it will stay that way. The dry protectors offer a questionable fit, exposing parts of the glass, while no wet protectors have ever appealed to me due to horrific feel and orange peel.

Were I to get one, however, I'd get an XO Skin because of peoples claims regarding their lack of tackiness (to touch).

This is just pure misinformation. Gorilla Glass can scratch... Saying that any glass is impossible to scratch is just wrong.

The biggest issue for these strong glass screens isn't something like keys or tables, but rather small particulates like sand and dust rubbing on the screen giving you fine scratches.

I just put a cheap dry apply one on after I looked at my old tbolt. Turns my stomach to look at what I put that phone thru. I hope between a sp and my otter box defender this phone will stay looking brand new.

This. That's why I use a sleeve, even in pocket. I also clean the sleeve out. I also have 3 of them, just in case.

My OCD can't handle scratches, but it also can't handle the negatives of a SP. So I take the risk, but I also baby the heck out of this thing!

I use the Verizon anti-glare screen protector, but just so i can see my cell better outside. It really comes in handy when I am using navigation on my Harley. I made a handle bar mount for my Softail that turned out pretty nice.

I found a few minor scratches and because of this I know have a protector on. Samsung cheaped this time around.
