...I was wasting time while my old lady was in Vickie Secrets, and I went to the Verizon kiosk and talked about getting my girl on my plan and the fact that she really wanted the Droid Eris...

The guy I talked to proceeded to tell me how crappy the Droid Eris was and how buggy it was, and how Android OS is new and they don't quite know what they're doing yet... and that I should go on and buy her a Blackberry Storm 1!!!!

He told me how everybody he sold an Eris to ended up hating the device and returning it...

I told him I still had my old Storm 1 and she didn't want it, and I didn't want it either....

I understand he was just trying to get rid of inventory that no one is buying and all... but good lord the way he dogged Erid and Android OS in general was mind-boggling to me!!! Anyways, just thought you all here would get a kick out of this story, and was wondering what your opinions on it are?!

seems some VZ store reps are just jerks.... Manager at a store I went to (after a CS rep over the phone noted my account recommending me for a different non BB phone of my choice) took my 4th broken storm and insisted that it HAD to be replaced with a storm 2 because it was far superior to all android phones...long story short I had to leave with the S2.

The rep you talked to should be fired....for recommending the S1 to anyone

Im amazed its still for sale, I had that POS from release day till a 2 weeks ago and I would have rather had a dumb phone... S2 is barley better. Seems like a lot of droid users are recovering Storm users

Sounds like he was just trying to get rid of some old inventory, if he really wanted to make a sale on the Droid Eris he would've went over the features and the positives to get you to buy instead of turning you away from it. I just bought my Eris a few days ago and i made a very good choice.

I came from a S1 and for anyone to recommend a S1 over ANY Android Device is very disturbing to me. There would be under absolutely NO circumstance that I would EVER tell someone they should get a Storm over an Eris, Droid, or any other Android device.

Even other Blackberries are better... Ive recommended the bold or tour to people that really want the simplicity of blackberry... a lot of them still have problems but the storm is probably the worst thing Ive seen RIM put out... my dad's company was due for an upgrade and almost went with Storms... thankfully my dad owns one now and stopped them. Imagine a financial corporation running on Storms...

The S1 is the Corvair of the BB line. My Verizon salesman was very enthused about the android line and spent much time comparing it to other devices that would fit my needs. After being on Palm OS for 10 years I wasn't sure if I was ready to make a change to a new platform but after doing side by side comparisons I soon realized that, whle still in its infancy, Android (especially my HTC Eris) was the way of the future. Still thrilled with my choice.

Imagine a financial corporation running on Storms...

Hey lets not imagine that..I will get a migraine.Seriously,I financial corp using a storm...bad is all I can say.

Hey ips, you do know that nothing is wrong with the storm,it's just us users being too dumb to know how to use such a "high-tech" device. Whats wrong with the storm? Nothing! It's always "user error." Have you heard that line before? Phone resets itself? User error! Memory leak? user error! :)

Yup I wasnt using quickpull to reset the phone 4 times a day or I installed too many apps too fast....I just dont understand the blackberry....
I always found that hysterical because if people who go to tech forums have problems imagine the problems people who dont like this kind of thing have...like businesses who just get the phone to work and do exchange and email (BIS and BES have been down on and off all week)

I was a storm 1 user from day 1 till Droid Day one. Once I decided to get the Droid my Daughter wanted my Storm 1. I tried to talk her out of it. Now she is thinking about getting a Droid. My son also had a Storm 1 from day one. He was home on military leave last week saw my droid and said when he gets back from Japan in the Spring, he is getting one.

I had my storm2 for 1 week and took it back to get the eris. The eris is an awesome device and very customizable. Can't imagine not having an android device.

Btw I have the Moto Droid and like some have said I def think android is the future... I never had major problems w my Storm and wouldn't dog RIM (well... not TOO bad anyway!!!) but most def felt limited...... going from storm to droid has been like being stuck in a cave my entire life and just seeing light/the sun/the world for the first time!!!!!!!!!

Hahaha. The guy tried. He was doing his job, despite being a douchebag about it. The Eris flies off the shelf and he has no problem selling them, but the crates of unused S1s just sit their mocking them.

But I'm a WinMo (Touch Pro1, yuck) refugee myself, and haven't looked back since November 6th.
