I will be switching today from the T-Mobile 9700 to the Sprint HTC Evo.

Story of how I started using the Blackberry;

I got the first iPhone, the 1st Gen that came out, I did love it since I was one of the few that had it, but then I made the switch to the Blackberry 8310, I have been a Blackberry user since.

Not sure why, maybe because of the push e-mail and the BBM , either way, I have been using Blackberry for YEARS.

Now that a lot of new HOT phones are coming out, I would definitely like to change. I, myself, wasn't a big fan of the touch screen (the time I had it with the first iPhone), but I saw the HTC EVO and I fell in love :o, it was either go to Sprint and get the amazing data plan with the HTC EVO, or go to Verizon, pay a lot and get maybe a Droid X, or the Droid 2 coming out. I decided that in the long run, saving money monthly on my bill with Sprint will be better for my wallet

So today I am making the switch from my Blackberry Bold 9700, to the HTC EVO. Sprint has a policy that you can use for 30 days and return it, so if I am not satisfied with it, I will be getting the Bold 9650.

Each day I will post my inputs, etc. It would be great for people to put they're input, it was GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Current Mood: Estatic to go get my EVO  :D

Grats on the decision.

It's good to see you're open to the idea of switching. A lot of my friends are just stuck in BB or iPhone "culture" and refuse to be open minded.

It took me like 2 weeks of mulling it over to drop my Bold and ATT for the Evo and Sprint.
Cant says its been the best decision I ever made, but not horrible by any means. I think Im harder on the phone and service though because its new and Im used to a certain level of service and working order with no legwork by me. I kinda knew what I was getting into though.
This phone is starting to be more like a hobby. lol

I was in the same boat as you. I was never a fan of the touch screen only phones so I first went with the Samsung Moment. After the EVO came out I read mixed reviews but decided to go to a Best buy and get a feel for it myself, it was love at first sight :p

You'll love it I'm sure and if Sprint is good in your area, it'll be a match made in heaven.....LOL

Sprint being good in your area is key. Sprint is great in the Chicago area so I get great data very speeds and call quality is top notch. I couldn't be happier with my evo.

A problem came up =S... quick question hough... if you guys had to choose between he Droid or the Droid X with Verizon, what would you pick?

Evo beat them both in some test i saw, droid x has no front camera.

But Verizon & Motorola has stated that in the future a Droid will come out with a front camera...

Do you think Sprint will continue to keep up with Verizon with HTC phones and coming out with good phones?

Yes I think Sprint is now fully devoted to new phones from HTC & Samsung for the 4G network, they have no other choice. I also wonder why Sprint does not get Moto phone, strange that they are not in bed on this kind of project. In the future HTC will come out with something better this is a never ending story.

welcome to the android fam. you will not be disappointed once you see the greatness of the evo and android software.

I'm assuming this is Verizon's 4G?

Sorry I have no idea lol

Yes, Verizon is rolling out an LTE network (4G) by year end, maybe next year. However, no LTE phones are on the horizon.

Sprint already has it's WiMax (4G) network deployed and the Evo (soon also Epic).

The way I see it, the Droid X is the best android phone _today_ that is stock android. HTC Evo is the best HTC phone _today_ (although HTC is a phone mill, they pump out new phones so fast) that has Sense. HTC Sense is uber popular, for me... it's a game changer.

Also, I don't consider leaving Sprint. I really like my family plan, and it would be $60-70 more a month to get the plan I want on Verizon. It simply isn't worth it.

Speaking of following, I'm still trying to talk my wife into ditching her old LG Rumor for some type of Android Sprint phone. She's the only one in the family not on Android. I told her she's missing out on getting the Android smileys in text messages like the rest of us.

You posted in my thread about switching back to BB from the EVO.

After one day with the 9650 Bold, I have decided to go back to the EVO. Basically the EVO is a beast and makes my BB feel like a 5 years old cell phone. Until RIM decides to put some serious processors in their devices, I'm gonna stay away from BB.

U would not regret it the Droid x is not a bad device but after having a lot of friends n family that I b doing video chat with n this kickstand I just can't see me going anywhere bcause I'm sorry but in my opinion this is the best phone out right now n I have 5 phones in my plan 2 evos, 2 pres, n one pixi n I pay around $230.00 a month I love that payment considering I have good phones n now my wife who has a pre wants the epic so ill play around with that n see if I would change my EVO cause I've been having a little thought but I love this EVO so much I don't want to make a mistake to switch n then I won't like it
