too easy to use

I have used isis which eventually turned into softcard and I have used samsung pay. both required password or fingerprint before making a purchase. Even walmart pay requires pin or finger between each transaction. I noticed with google pay, all you have to do is to turn on the phone and scan which to me is more convenient. I can watch the items scanned price instead of fiddling with the phone getting to the proper screen and making sure it does not time out.

don't get me wrong, I am using google pay instead of samsung pay now because my bank supports it but it seems too easy and unsecured to use if someone got a hold of my phone while it was still unlocked.

any thoughts about this? or am I just getting too paranoid in my old age?

That's the downside to having any sort of payment on your devices. It doesn't matter who made it, if the phone is unlocked, anyone could use it. However, I thought all payments needed a PIN/fingerprint to authorize?

not google pay, unless I missed a setting. all I do is unlock the phone and scan. which means as long as the phone is unlocked, google pay can be used by anyone. samsung pay and walmart pay, both require pin/password just before using. and samsung has a count down clock before you have to reauthorized the payment. neither can be used just by someone picking up your unlocked phone.

I'm pretty sure Google Pay requires some kind of screen lock more secure than a simple swipe. If you don't have a screen lock set and want to set up Google Pay, it will prompt you to create a more secure screen lock method (i.e., PIN, password, pattern, or fingerprint). This should be pretty secure, unless you have the Automatically Lock setting to something really long (like 30 minutes). In that situation, if you unlocked your phone, then set it down somewhere and got it stolen, the thief would have 30 minutes to open the phone without having to enter your screen lock method. So make sure your Automatically Lock interval is set to something pretty short.
