X vs Galaxy - Better Buy

I recall hearing news of a possible Galaxy S making its way to Verizon. Does anyone have any updated info on the possibility?

I realize that many of us do not have either phone. I was just wondering what you guys thought would be the better device and why, assuming the Galaxy S does come to Verizon.

I think they talked about this on the last podcast. They said that Samsung may be making a CDMA Galaxy but it would most likely go to Sprint. I doubt Verizon would launch it on their network since it would be in direct competition with the Droid X.

Samsung is making a CDMA Slaxy. It is called the galaxy S Pro and will come with a slide out keyboard. The device has already been leaked with Sprint 4g logos on the back.

Also I don't think Verizon cares about in-house competition amongst devices. They just want to selll you a contract. They couldn't care less if you buy a samsung or a motorola or a Hitachi as long as they get you on a 2 yr deal.

They're both great looking phones. The decision more comes from a screen size perspective. While some ppl are turned off by the big screen on the X, other love it. Some people just care about speed and performance, that's why even now people are still buying Incredibles with the X coming out. Some people love consuming media on-the-go, this is where the X comes in.

If you're not a big movie watcher or game player, I would say go for the Galaxy or Incredible. You really can't go wrong with any of these phones though.

Don't count out the graphics accell on the new Hummingbird just yet. Same SoC is what drives the iPad.

you are correct I'm not giving Samsung enough credit with their gpu. If i recall correctly they stated they would be ale to achieve 90 mill triangles per second. That's insane for a handheld device. We need to get a proper Android Central video review. You guys need to drop some more knowledge on me. Making this a real tough decision. :)

I was also really impressed with the X's benchmarks running eclair in comparison with Nexus One running froyo. I'm so confused....

Biggest problem with Samsung is their support record. And I do not just mean on phones. They make very nice hardware but seem not want to support it with software.

I couldn't agree more^^^^I'm now confused as could be.. I'm still leaning toward the droid X just because I know Moto does amazing with call quality and it just looks so damn fast!!! Then again the hummingbird processor could be a monster...What to do, what to do???:eek::eek::eek:

So many new phones, so little money to spend. This is why I'm sticking with my five month old Droid at least until I'm eligible for an upgrade. No problems with it and it's still awesome even though it's older than these new beasts.

Two 2GHz phones are also coming this year. One by HTC and the other by Motorola. The HTC one is going to Sprint and I'm pretty sure Verizon will be getting the Motorola one.
Sprint HTC Sabor Outshines HTC Evo 4G & Motorola Droid X
Motorola: 2 GHz cell phone due by end of 2010 - Technology & science - Wireless - msnbc.com

From your source:
""The upcoming HTC smartphone destined for Sprint packs a 2GHz processor, over 1000 resolution display, Android OS 2.5 (gingerbread), 2 cameras with one being a 10-megapixel, 1080p video recording and built-in kickstand.""

Right....

Maybe a ten mega pixel that records 1080p at 2 fps. I'd gladly take the iphone's optics, sensor and codec on a 5 mp with android.

i preordered my droidx at best buy but now that the fascinate has been revealed, i'm hesitating on following up on my preorder. anyone have any advice on which one to get?

I am desperate to get out of AT&T as I am finally sick of all the dropped calls. Since I also became tired of the iPhone's close system, I no longer am handcuffed to AT&T.

I want out the sooner, the better, and I'm considering:

Vzw Droid X (love the size)
Vzw Fascinate (the Super AMOLED screens are great! I've seen 'em since we work w/ pre-release devices)
Sprint Epic 4G (the Super AMOLED screens are great!)

I'd consider the Vibrant, but I'm unsure how good T-Mobile's 4th place network is ...

Help me out here. This is the conundrum of being an Android fan. Too many choices.

I'm just as confused as you. i think I will sit out both phone's launch days. I want to see more heads up review of the X and facinate before I make a final decision.

My Incredible is already sold. I have to ship out in next few days and will be going to a dumb phone for 2-3 weeks. Not sure how long I will be able to stop my impulsive behavior on either device.

I'm not too worried with under supply of either devices. Moto and samsung usually have plenty of stock. I'm targeting July 23rd as the day I make the decision.

here's hoping to no new devices being announced till then.

x for sure, just consider that moto phones get more updates than samsungs

and, at least droid x look less like the old iphone, while galazy has no style at all.

I personally am getting a Droid X. I don't really like Sprint's service and their 4G isn't even available in my area yet. I don't know much about the Fascinate. I really don't think you will be disappointed with the X. This is how I made my decision: I went into a Sprint store and played with the Evo for a few minutes. Then I went over to a smaller 3.5" screen phone an realized I needed that bigger screen. There was no going back after that. The Droid X is the phone for me.

Play with an Incredible, they are really quite good phones as well. But the X and the Galaxy S variants will all be great as well I am sure.
