Touch screen going crazy after unlocking

This has happened 2 times in the the past day. It mostly happens after i unlock it, the touch screen goes bonkers, touching things when im not even touching it. It i turn the screen off and back on it'll usually fix itself. Any ideas as to whats going on with it?

Are you using a case, screen protector? Is the screen dirty? If so, try removing them to see if that helps. You could always do a reboot.

Ive done a reboot, taken the screen protector off and cleaned it. nothing seemed to help it. although its not doing it now.

I did read that you recently repainted your case. Did the problems happen after that. I would, if possible sand your case with some 200 grit sandpaper around the edge that meets the screen to remove any possible burrs/fuzz (might have been painted over) that might be there.

When this was going on, i didnt have the case on.

This could also be a problem with a kernel if you aren't using a stock one. I know I had some troubles with the high end kernels and touch screen responsiveness

Ya know, I might have went to a different kernel right before this happened.

It happened again tonight at work. My phone was in my pocket, i was sweating a little but no more than usual. It went on for about 3 hours, every now and then it worked fine. I finally got fed up with it and pulled the battery for about 5 mins. and it spazzed out one more time and hasn't done it since. I'm gonna let it sit in rice over night just to make sure there is no moisture causing this.

Any suggestions?

unfortunately, mine has done this to the point where I contacted verizon. You are going to need another phone. I was close enough to my renew date so they are letting me up grade this weekend. I am switching to the Thunderbolt. I was wanting the Bionic, but cant go with my old voyager until it comes out. The first time I had this happen was back in January, I unrooted to stock and after about a week it got better. Then I re rooted and put on the newest Project Elite Rom and it was fine until last Thursday. I cant even unlock the screen half of the time. So frustrated I made the call to Big Red. I love this phone and am going to hate putting it down but it leaves me no choice now....

Its only doing it while I'm at work. If I turn the screen off and back on it'll work fine for a little bit then it'll go crazy again.
