Touchdown just stops working...

So I love my TB, but I have to manage a lot of corporate e-mail. I use Touchdown because of all my different folders and when Touchdown is working, it's great. Occasionally though, it just.stops.syncing. It will show the last sync time as whatever, you can tell it to force the sync, but it never pays off. Reboot the device, everything magically works again. I recently moved from a Droid on Exchange 2007 to the Thunderbolt on 2010, but I had the exact same problem with my Motorola Droid. People said HTC didn't have these problems with Touchdown, but I see they were wrong. :-\

Any ideas or suggestions to make it just stay working? I really don't want to go back to a Blackberry but at least the email always worked (well, unless RIM tanked...)

Occasionally the Data Connection sort of falls asleep on the smartphone. Usually either rebooting or switching airplane mode on and then off will get it to reconnect.

That would seem to be a major flaw to me, on the order of the battery issue and rebooting problems. As much as I want it to be, I don't think I can truly call this an enterprise class phone. Be that as it may, I still love my Android OS and will keep and hopefully the engineers will iron out some of these issues.

Touchdown only starts to cause problems for me when I tell it to force sync, especially if it is in the middle of synching. Otherwise Touchdown works pretty well for me. Also, my phone rarely reboots on its own (stock phone), so it stays running for awhile. I do notice that when I mark an email read or do some action directly from my phone, it takes awhile for it to automatically sync back to Exchange. If I force sync, it updates Exchange but I rarely do this.

I'm just upset I even have to use it since the stock mail program won't sync multiple outlook folders at the same time :(.

I used Touchdown initially when I got this phone as well. I had similar issues and it wasn't the data connection on the phone it was the Touchdown app. This and other issues are why I no longer use Touchdown. It was nice when it worked but I got tired of missing work emails and appointments. The Exchange email (stock on phone) does everything I need now. Hope you get it worked out but wanted to give my experience as well.

I use Touchdown because of the ability to sync Tasks and (huge) the ability to convert an email to a calendar item or task. My problem is that if I clean up my inbox on the computer, TD does not generally reflect the changes (deleted or removed emails). Does yours do this as well?

I've seen it do this. I stopped using Touchdown when I left my previous company since I no longer needed calendars, etc. But usually when you delete or remove mails, you sometimes have to force a sync before it updates. It is like it stores the information that was on the server at last sync, and doesn't refresh immediately.
