Touching screen no longer gives access to actions

Yesterday when I touched the screen I got a list of actions to choose from. Today - for unknown reasons - actions seem to have completely disappeared from my device, and I have to long press the button to open the list of apps. The screen can open settings when sliding down, I can swipe notifications but a single touch does nothing.
