Touchless Control Setup

so i just got the maxx and trying to setup the touchless control. everytime i press the record button it kicks immediately to "sorry i didn't catch that" and keeps prompting me to start over. i do and kicks me back to that same message without any delay in between to even say anything. is it supposed to do that? if so, how is one supposed to say anything when it won't let you?

Don't worry, the same thing happened to me when I got my phone a few days ago. Let me see if I can find the post that helped me solve this. Basically, I had to go find the update to the touchless controls app in the Google Play Store. But once I updated it I was able to train the voice recognition with no problem.

Go to your Settings - - > Applications - - > Pick the tab for All Applications, and scroll down this long list till you see Touchless Controls. What version is it? This is the latest version that works for me :

I can concur that the update made mine work.

Side question, where can I learn the details for this feature ? I have a couple of usability issues so far. It keeps picking up at random times (like asi was typing this), also I have a screen unlock pattern but it required me to unlock the screen to do anything. I thought it didn't need to be unlocked to work.

Well, a possible workaround to the screen lock is to not use a general screen lock but to use App Protector Pro. App Protector Pro allows you to lock only specific apps that you need a pass code for. This way can keep the sensitive parts of your phone locked down while not locking the entire phone and thus allowing touchless controls to work.

Here is the paid version that I've been using on my last 3 phones. It's probably the most important app I've ever downloaded. One app to rule them all.

I downloaded that yesterday, have you noticed any differences yet?

They seem to have fixed the double sending of texts through the system, but I am not sure that is related to the touchless control update.
