Touchscreen on flat surface

There seems to be some issue with the touchscreen when it's laying on a flat surface. My touchscreen works if I am holding it but if I set it down on my desk, the top part of the screen seems to non respond to touch.

Is anyone else having this problem? Wondering if all the phones are doing this or if it's a problem I need to address.

I have the same issue but works when I touch the phone with one hand and I swipe with the other even on a flat surface.

I don't believe my phone is doing this... maybe I'm just not doing the right thing though. I set it down on a desk and can drag down the notification bar to see my notices. I can swipe from left to right, open apps at the top of the screen. Is it something specific, or did I just get lucky?

I just tried this and mine is the same way. Lay it on the desk and tap the notification area=no response (normally, even without notification, the area will show date). Lay it on the desk, grab the sides of the phone with one hand and tap the notification area with the other=response. This would explain why if I am holding it, I don't have the issue. I don't think the fact that it's laying flat is the issue.

I read somewhere else that it's some sort of grounding issue?

For me flat surface like table is fine. Surface like mattress/bed is flaky as hell. Not sure why. Uneven? Visual perception? Other?

Same here if it is on a flat surface (even if not level) i have no problem using the phone, bringing down the notification menu, etc.

but if it is on a soft surface like couch or bed, the touchscreen goes wonky.

my touch screen works fine no matter what it is on...bed, desk, whatever.....

I do have a seidio innocase though

Does anyone having this problem have a screen protector on? I'm not having this issue, but will be buying a screen protector shortly?

Where did you guys buy the phone? Wondering if it's from a particular batch from a specific chain. I am having the problem and purchased from RS.

I do have a screen protector but from what I've been reading, I don't think that is the problem.

Just tried it on mine, same issue. Very bizarre. Not a big deal, but definitely weird. Bought mine at Best Buy plus I have an HTC silicone case and a Bodyguardz screen protector.

**My screen "fixed"**

I had the screen problem as noted in this thread. I also had the invisible shield screen protector on the phone. I decided to remove the protector and now the touchscreen is working fine! I have repeated the test on the same surfaces and the top of the screen is responding perfectly.

Keeping my fingers crossed the issue doesn't come back! I will update this thread if it does.

DISCLAIMER: I am not saying that the invisible shield or any other protector was the cause of the issue. Nor am I saying this will resolve anyone else's screen issue as I have read in threads on this site and others that some people having the screen issue do not have a screen protector. One thread even stated that they tested it on display models at various stores and they all had the issue. I have also read people with protectors not having the issue. Perhaps it was the way I applied the protector as I installed it myself.

I bought mine from Wirefly.

I don't know if I'm allowed to post links to another forum but it's the htc site forum so hopefully it's ok...

**Verified Issue** Screen losing responsiveness / Improperly Grounded touchscreen

g1,

This is actually my thread that I started on HTC's forums... For some of you thinking this is an issue with the Invisible Shield, Seidio/Platinum Case, and any other case(s) for that mater - It is not.

If you read on the HTC post, a user just tried 5 different phones at different Retail Outlets, which usually do not place any type of protectors on their demos, and all phones he tested exhibited the same problem.

Also, the HTC Incredible is known to have the problem. If you look at the youtube links I posted in the post, you'll see the user test 2 brand new replacement phones from Verizon and on video he removed the standard screen protector.
