Touchscreen twitching getting worse

When I first bought my phone like 6 months ago it would occasionally freak out.
The touchscreen doesn't recognize you having your finger still on the screen.
Like say if I drag my finger from the top of the screen to the bottom.......whatever im dragging
will twitch back and forth.. So I downloaded a drawing app, and when it is doing this problem if
I draw a line across the screen it will come out looking like morse code.....kinda like i kept tapping the screen.
It usually goes away after I restart the phone, but its been happening more and more lately, basically once a day now.
Is this a software issue or is my screen on its way out?

Same here. I have a friend's old Design, and in the Developer Options I enabled Show touches. It's as if there are two swathes on the bottom where it won't register touch sometimes, and the lines in between, when it "twitches" will show five or so touch points going nuts.
