I'd say that the S9 will be great but both phones are awesome choices.

There is (and always will be) a continual battle for bragging rights in phones... Some people will always feel that they need to have the absolute best in a category.. and the demonstration of the S9 camera at launch taking photos in the dark was spectacular.

So, anyone who needs the latest and greatest, will have a fun 6 months with the s9 until the note9s updated camera beats it.

Anyone who just needs a very, very good camera will still be happy with the Pixel2, S8, S9, or even whatever LG are doing these days .....)

Can't go wrong with the S9 or the Pixel 2. I personally will be keeping my Pixel 2XL and using the S9+. I don't know that the S9 camera can overcome what the Pixel's software does behind the scenes but it should be a very good camera. Camera aside, I'd give the hardware advantage to the S9/S9+ while it is hard to compete with the Pixel's software. Everything is so fluid and bloat free. I will say, with my time with the Note 8, I rarely encountered lag, so Samsung's UI is improving, but still not (in my opinion) on the level of the Pixel devices.

Just buy an S9 and side load Google camera. Get the best of both

I think both will be great phones still. The S9 having that one thing isn't going to make the Pixel photos just magically turn to crap .

I'm really hoping the 9+ has battery life comparable to the 2xl. Between the software, camera and battery the 2xl has been a really great experience. Hopefully you can remap the bixby button to replace the squeeze for assistant feature.
