Toughest, Most Rugged Case for Note 3

Hi everybody, long time lurker but first time poster. I was hoping this board can give me some feedback on what is generally considered the toughest, most rugged case for the note 3. I don't mind adding bulk to this phone as Id' rather the most protection possible. I currently have the Trident Kraken AMS case and am pleased with it, but was wondering if there's something better. Thanks!

I'd look at otterbox defender. I don't own that case, but people love it. I've read about some people who take out the otterbox screen protector and use a tempered glass one.

I had an otterbox on an old phone and it was so good at protecting it, after many drops, no noticeable damage could be seen, but internal parts loosened and I had to retire the phone.

Thanks for getting back to me. I've heard that the rubber that encases the phone on the OB Defender starts to loosen after a bit. My Trident Kraken has the soft shell encasing the phone and a harder shell on the outside. It's a tank and very heavy duty but I feel like the outside piece of my case would snap off if my phone took a nasty fall.

I have the OB Defender.

When you have the phone attached to the belt clip with the screen inside then I think it offers very good protection.

I am not keen on the screen protector though as it isn't perfectly flat on the screen and you get rainbow effects. I am tempted to remove that and use a proper glass protector.

Is the OB Defender the best? I couldn't say but it fits beautifully and feels like it would protect the phone against most things.

Beware of fakes though. I bought one off Amazon and it was fine, I bought another for my dad from eBay and it was a fake.

You might want to YouTube some note 3 drop tests. Some accessories stores do videos showing which cases hold up the best.

I use the UAG Scout. Have dropped the phone on concrete and asphalt a few times and even the case came out without a scratch. There was no question that the phone obviously survived unscathed. It's much slimmer than the Otterbox that I threw out was..and it's far less money as well, not to mention that it looks a lot better. It takes 1 second to slip it on to the phone and less than 5 to remove I'll put it up any day against the OB Defender. This is one case where bigger is NOT actually better; excuse the pun.

Has anybody ever heard of the case I currently have - The Trident Kraken? What about the Ballistic Tough Jacket Maxx. Anyone know anything about that? Thanks everybody!

I used the Kraken before. It is certainly beefy.

The Ballistic cases are junk - no comparison between them and say an Otterbox or a UAG

Yeah the kickstand gets worn easily. I am using the case mate pop which I got directly from case mate for $5 shipped. It is no where near as protective but the Kraken is just so big. I like that you can switch the kickstand out for other accessories.
