Trackball LED

Does anybody know of any good Trackball Notification programs.

It seems that Handcent and ChompSMS do not use the Eris trackball as the notification light but instead it forces the tiny tiny tiny green led to be used when you have a unread message.

Although Chomp has added this feature on some devices they still have not enabled it for use on the Eris.

I know with crackberry they had atleast 15 good programs for changing led colors, speeds, frequency, and what notification to use it for, and same for the trackball. I don't care about the color, besides i don't think you can control the color of the Eris trackball but i do want to be able to control for what notification it works with.

Any help would be great.


P.S. If nobody can help with this maybe there is a workaround... like turning the Regular SMS app notifications on, and turning Chomps off... I know then i would have to open the regular app to clear that notification but if theres another program that can clear than or something... idk but i would love some input... Thanks in advance to any responses...

I use Chomp and the LED on the trackball still pulsates... but I wish I could make it go faster. I'm also interested to know.

I do know if you root your phone there's an LED hack program, but Rooting isn't a great idea for everyone.

Wait, you have an Eris and Chomp and your Trackball still lights up? do you have notifications ON for the Default messaging?

I use handcent and have my default message app disabled and my trackball still lights up...

handcent i already know enabled that feature for the Eris... But i wasn't happy with Handcent. It had notified me of new messages and then deleted them on it's own on multiple occasions... before i could even get to view them they were gone.

It was having other lag and force close issues so i went with Chomp. Chomp says they have the Trackball LED as an option on the Magic and the Hero but says nothing about the Eris.

A few people have said it works on the Eris even though they don't have the option it always lights up anyway. I just don't believe these people or they have an option selected or deselected somewhere that everyone else in the world doesn't know about... haha

so...

greengoo! do you know what your notification settings for Chomp are set at and same for the Default app? so i can try to get this to work if you say it works?

Handcent has the option to activate the trackball (and works). I've completely disabled the stock message app notifications within the app itself. But in the settings of the phone the trackball notification is checked for MMS.

I get a text, the track ball lights up for a predefined 10 seconds(it blinks doesn't stay on). it works. never had any issues with handcent on my eris. love the app, one of my favorites. It has gone through several updates. The only issue i've had was the multiple person text issue (it went as many times to the first person on the list for each additional person you put on) but thats been resolved several version ago.
