Hi,

I am new here and android world too.
I had my first android phone (note 4) for the last 3 months. I love the phone but i am still not used to the size and prefer having a smaller phone. At the moment i have also the HTC one M8, love the speakers, one handed usage and is fast, battery is not bad too.

Do you think is a big downgrade? in terms of processor and graphics.
note 4 has 32gb vs 16gb htc one m8.

Very bad idea. ...in my view. I haven't read all the preceding posts that might cover this but the M8, good as it may be is no Note 4 with all its quality and utility. The two phones are in different leagues from my perspective. The M8 may be varsity, true, but the Note 4 is professional.

Best way to tell is get your hands on an M8 to play around with because so much is based on personal preference. For example, I'd take the M8 any day over the Note 4. While the Note 4 may have better specs, I can't stand Samsung's green tinted displays and that alone is a deal breaker for me.

I do know what you're talking about. The blueish-green tint isn't noticeable to me unless I have my LG G Pad's next to my Note 4.

Obviously the Note 4 is superior specs wise, it came out 8 months after the M8. I don't have either one but if I had to choose right now I would take the M8. The Note 4 is just too big. And I don't like the Samsung screens or touchwiz. I have no desire for the S pen and the difference in processor or speed would hardly be noticeable.

Personally I will wait another 2 months for the M9/Hima.

Thank you guys for replying. Yes i agree note 4 is the superior device obviously.
Yes i tried using the handed usage but it is not the same as using a one handed friendly device (smaller device).
I don't think i will miss the quad HD display so much as the 1080p screen is enough for me.
The speakers on the back on the note 4 sometimes annoys me and i quickly liked the speakers on the M8.
What i don't like on the M8 is power button on top, bit hard to reach. I was afraid i will dislike the camera but i don't mind. Pictures doesn't look that bad as people were saying. the front facing camera is better than the note 4 (weird).
I am not a power user, but consume lot of media on my phone.
I have used the s pen, one time during the 3 months but used the multi windows quite often.
Now i can see why the HTC one M8 has been praised a lot in reviews.
I might not be a phablet person i guess.

You can turn gesture controls on with the M8 so you can turn on the screen by double tapping it. You can't use a stock gesture to also turn it off, but there are third party apps that can. I use one called HTC Gesture Listener that turns the screen off and locks it by touching the screen with 3 simultaneous taps. I rarely use the power button now.

Yes on gesture listener and gesture controls.
Although I don't use the three finger tap to off as I like to use the phone just with one hand.
I do however use the swipe up to screen on the phone. Only reason I use power button is to turn screen off (my hands are big enough where I can barely reach the power button)
Swipe up to turn on tho :)

One gripe I had about gesture listener and 3 finger tap to off is that it didn't seem to care that you were in an app (a game for example) and if you 3 finger or even 4 finger tap the screen, it turns off.

Not a big fan of Touchwiz UI myself. Sense is much cleaner and very smooth comparatively. My friend has the Note and I didn't see a difference in performance in spite of the specs unscientifically of course. I also noticed the blue tint, but would I have if I didn't have my HTC there to compare? Probably not. They are both good phones, though I like my HTC One. You may want to hold off for the successor they're calling "Hima" .

It's boils down to your preference, I've used both and stuck with the M8, due to better XDA support, smaller phone, metal body, etc.

See your priorities and decide. 😊

If possible, keep both. Get yourself a micro to nano SIM adapter and just switch back and forth whenever you feel like it.

They are both great phones. I would say my N4 gets more use than my M8. The main reason is screen size. When I know I'm going to be doing something, like waiting for my car to get fixed, I want the Note 4. But when I want a sleek, not as wide device I go for the M8.

I'm a cyclist, and there is a saying that the number of bikes you need is n + 1. It's the same with phones.

I have the HTC One M8 H-K Edition.
Stereo separation from the speakers is great. I'm getting 80+ feet Bluetooth range from it which really practical with all the NEW Bluetooth capable devices being made for the home.
Using the phone in one hand is really practical too.
Screen graphics on Netflix and Hulu+ are crisp and clear without the hues that Samsung's seem to have.
The camera takes excellent photos and videos, front and back. In fact, the phone is SO good, I made secure camera mount for the otter box it is in so I could use it on tripods and other camera mounts at weddings and family events.
The rapid burst picture mode is incredible for sports, nature and family portraits. Just pick the best photo. The editing suite that comes with the phone is better than most of those found in the Play Store.
If you need a superior phone that intigrates with video and audio playback REALLY well, then I HIGHLY recommend the HTC One M8 H-K Edition. If you need a phablet with a strong business suite, Note 4 is a better option.
I realized I was going to use the internet, watch videos, listen to music way more often than run business apps, so I went with M8.
No regrets...at all...
Hope that helps. Just figure out what you need it do MOST of the time and you will be happy with your decision.
*Blessings*
