Anyone getting rid of their Bionic for the Galaxy Nexus? If so what would be the best place to sell the Bionic if your 14 days are up? Is the Galaxy Nexus really a better phone? Curious what everyone thinks... Thanks!
I thought the Nexus was very underwhelming. The only feature that WOW'ed me was the camera. Samsung definitely has the upper hand in the camera department.
The phone doesn't seem to be a huge step up over the Bionic though (IMO). The processor speed was the biggest let down for me. I was definitely expecting to see a 1.5GHz processor in there. It also doesn't have an HDMI out or MicroSD card slot which is pretty lame. Of course the screen will likely be better than the Bionic's pentile, but I am satisfied with the pentile screen for the improved visibility outdoors and the battery savings. I am also (probably one of the few) that would prefer to have actual capacitive buttons on the phone rather than them being integrated into the OS. IF the Nexus was 1.5GHz then it could be quite a nice jump and possibly worthy of trading it in and buying the Nexus off contract.
The main benefit (for most) will be having ICS with a pure Android experience. It will also be a great upgrade to those who can't stand the pentile screen I am not saying the Nexus is inferior despite being underwhelmed. The specs are still better than the Bionic (aside from missing features which Bionic has), but I don't believe its a big enough jump to warrant selling your Bionic and getting the Nexus off contract.
If someone was new to Verizon and didn't have a Bionic then the Nexus would definitely be the way to go! I was prepared to sell the Bionic ONLY if the Nexus had a 1.5GHz processor. Somewhat glad it didn't so I can save my money.![]()

My advice: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. Seriously, it's a great phone, it has an awesome screen, the newest version of Android, a great camera, etc. etc. but it's really not worth paying all that money to get it (even if you can sell that Bionic for a good price, you'll still have to buy the Nexus full price...you'll be paying more for only small benefits). Plus onscreen buttons will get annoying, I can almost guarantee that you'll miss that menu button instantly, and probably the search button (although I do wonder how they'll set up any older phones to have the multitasking button, maybe hold down the Home button...?) The phone is a MONSTER too, I wouldn't mind it too much, but it could possibly be a little on the large side. And yes, we have no clue if the LTE version will be very thin.If the Bionic never gets ICS - and it may not - then the Nexus could be much faster than the Bionic. ICS has hardware acceleration and (I believe) true support for the multiple CPUs that GB lacks. It may really much faster.
I think that the Bionic will get ICS - I hope that all dual-core GB phones get it - but we stil don't know if it will.
I think that the Bionic is too big, so of course I would never get the Galaxy Nexus. It is way too big for my taste. We still don't know how thick the LTE version will be, though I am sure it will be thinner than the Bionic. Still, it's a third on an inch longer.

Why the heck would you want to lose the biggest upperhand over owning an iPhone, the microSD card slot? I still can't wrap my head around that...and no mini HDMI would be very annoying. And the headphone jack is on the bottom...I don't really know if I'd like that.
If someone didn't already have the Bionic...I'd say buy a RAZR or a Bionic, they seem to be the best phones in terms of hardware. Software can always be changed, it's as easy as dropping Launcher Pro on there, or a custom ROM if you're feeling adventurous.
And if you want a pure Google feel, yes the Nexus is the easiest way to get it. But I'm sure someone will make a custom ROM when the source for ICS is released for the Bionic to run ICS. And then there'll be some with customizations, etc.
Stick with what you got, the Bionic is plain awesome. Try a custom ROM if you're feeling the software is dwindling.
I would be SHOCKED if the Bionic didn't get ICS. The Razr is getting it and it looks to be the SAME processor, but OC'ed to 1.2GHz.
I agree with you 100%. I don't like the idea of not having capacitive buttons at all times. It will take longer to do what you want to do. Example: Watching a video. You will likely have to tap the screen to bring up the keys, then tap the home button. Rather than just hitting the home button from the start. I would prefer the added control of having the 4 buttons available to me at all times. I know for SURE I would miss the home key like crazy. I could probably be OK without having the others at all times, but I definitely want the home button available at all times.
Doesn't the Bionic have the OMAP4660, the RAZR has the OMAP4770 (sorry if I messed up some numbers lol)? But yeah...basically it is an overclocked Bionic CPU though.
And like I said, if they don't do it quickly, developers will have an ICS custom ROM out for it very soon, like probably before December soon. I'm hoping by Christmas we have a stable ICS ROM for the Bionic.
And I didn't even think about videos! That's going to be terribly annoying, I like having a button always there, capacitive or physical, doesn't matter I want a button lol.
After seeing the RAZR and the Galaxy Nexus...I feel even happier that I didn't wait on those instead of the Bionic. The Bionic seems to be the most hardware feature rich, it's just a little chunkier, which I don't mind, it's still very thin.
And it's also probably going to have a larger developer community, it's still a very popular phone.
The Bionic AND the Razr both have the OMAP 4430. I believe the Razr is just OC'ed.
Like you, I am glad I jumped on the Bionic and didn't hold out for the Prime (Like I was contemplating two months ago).
I am running TH3ORYROM's UNL3ASHED rom and my Bionic it's insanely fast. I honestly could not imagine it being any quicker. I love the Bionic and will be sticking with it.![]()
Hmm I thought the RAZR and Galaxy Nexus were running a different model of the OMAP4...whatever it's still not a huge difference anyways. I'm loving the TH3ORY ROM, so I'm just fine with what I got. I don't need new hardware, I need new software lol.
The RAZR and Nexus might very well be running different models of the OMAP 4 processor. They haven't said exactly what processor the Nexus is using aside that its an OMAP processor. I have heard that the native speed of the Nexus is 1.5GHz, but it is actually underclocked to 1.2GHz. I could be wrong so don't quote me on that. I don't remember where I saw it.
The RAZR and Bionic are the ones using the same processor with Razr being overclocked.
