I have the blue 32gb TF300 with keyboard dock. I got it nearly 2.5 years ago in November. It's been a wild ride with that thing- performance has been up and down nearly every time with Asus. I'm sure all the tf300 owners remember the issues upgrading to 4.2.1, where the tablet has stayed. I think it's time to look forward to getting a new tablet. To be honest, I'm tired of Asus. While their products are unique, they really have to work out the kinks in their software customizations.

So, let me tell you a little about myself. I am going to be in college next year, and I'm hoping to use either
1) an android tablet in conjunction with a cheap windows laptop
2) a Microsoft surface tablet running blustacks for when I want android.

Could anybody recommend what option is better for a college student? And if it's the android tablet route, which one? I definitely like the Nexus 9, but now it's half a year old, so should I wait for the next nexus tablet? If it's something else, what?

Thanks!

Samsung Tab Pro, Tab S, or Note Pro might be worth looking into. What's your budget?

My main reservation about the Nexus 9 would be build quality, as mentioned in various reviews. They're probably not widespread issues, but they're common enough to be pretty well-known.

You might want to consider a Chromebook, especially since Android and Chrome OS seem to be converging more and more. If you're a big gamer, though, don't bother just yet.
