What's the most effective way for you to use Android to get traffic updates and get alerted before you hit the road, or while you're already en route? Thanks.

Before I set out I listen to radio traffic reports and, if in doubt, check a regional traffic status app (which one will vary from country to country).
En-route I use the free navigation app Waze and live radio traffic reports.

Google Now has been pretty good. If there's a major traffic problem, we have a system in California called Sigalert. You can visit the web page and view in detail any accidents, view the reports and see videos tills from a select number of Highway cameras.

If there's a more effective app for traffic information I'd love to hear to hear about it as well.

Google now. Its on spot with Vegas traffic. With updates and accident.
