Transfer photos from PC to phone

I'm using 2.3.6 on my first Android phone. I moved some photos (jpg) from my PC to the phone (no SD card) and during the copy process I received a message - "may not be compatible with device". I can see them in my gallery but get no response when I try to select one of them for wallpaper.

If I tap it, the photo is isolated and that's it. No response from menu icon. There are forward/backward arrows at bottom of screen and tapping them just gets me the date I copied the photo to the phone.

Thanks for your help.

The photos are standard jpg format taken with a Canon. Phone is Sprint Galaxy S2 Epic 4G. What other info do you need? Thanks

I see a small image of the photo but can't enlarge or use it in any way; i.e., wallpaper for my home screen.

I mean after you open gallery,if your photos are in a folder of name "ABC" then there is a folder inside gallery which contains the images

There are no folders in my gallery. When I open the gallery - the pictures are there. At the top of the screen (l), is an icon which I can't identify and the word Gallery. On the right side is the camera icon.

That's it.

Your gallery should be making a category for each folder the media scanner finds pictures, labeled with the same name as the folder that it's in. You should not be seeing all of your pictures when you first open the gallery.

When you click a picture thumbnail and view the full image, there should be a "More" button at the bottom you can click and choose "Set as" from the menu, where you would select wallpaper.

I suspect user error somewhere or something is wrong with your gallery app. You may want to try going into the application settings for the gallery app and clear data.

If it's user error, I'm consistent because since I got this phone (3 weeks ago) I have seen pictures only in the gallery.

Re second paragraph and the "More" button, I get the "Set as" and can select wallpaper.

I'm in "Settings", "Applications" "Manage Applications" and find no "Gallery" app. My list skips from "Fly Delta" to "Gmail." Where else should I look?

I did successfully move a couple of photos via Kies.

Thanks for your help. I hope wherever you are, it's cooler than in New York City at 95F.

You need the click the "All" button when in application settings in order to view all phone apps, which includes system applications. The list you saw was only your user apps (ones you installed from the market or were preinstalled but are uninstallable).

Thanks everybody who responded. I deleted the photos, cleared all the data and have now successfully set up folders and transferred pictures via Kies. Thanks again for all the help. :D
