Hi guys,

I just got my 6P today. Love the phone. My only question is.

How do i transfer my SMS from old htc m8 to the 6P?
Thanks!

update:
I used following app
https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...om.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore&token=yVTIHJNS

1. installed the app on htc m8
2. backup sms to file using the app
3. uploaded to google drive
4. installed the app on 6p
5. download and file from google drive on 6p
6. restore & done, yay!

That's what I've been using for the last couple of years and it works well. Also, make sure to get the add on for Google Drive and Dropbox so that your file can be uploaded there if you want.

The one major problem with this method is it doesn't work for MMS messages. So group texts all lose their formatting and names and your pictures won't come through.

My pictures come through just fine. I don't know about group messages as I avoid those at all times if possible. I even like the fact it keeps track of my locked message status so I don't worry about important ones accidentally getting deleted.

Is there a way to backup my internal drive and sd card to an external hdd?

Yes it does. Just make sure you check the appropriate box for MMS!

MMS = multimedia message system
It's pictures, group messages (sent as one), videos, audio etc... Basically anything not plain old text. It's usually stored differently in a database which is why the back up apps have an option to choose to save and restore them from the other messages. Also they tend to be much bigger in file size.
