Hello everyone,

I am having issues with pictures that i transfer from my pc to my phone. Before when i transferred pictures to my phone under the pictures folder they would show up as albums in my gallery. It is no
longer working and new pictures that i transfer to my phone are not showing up in my gallery. If i want to see the pictures i have to manually go to folders > pictures.
I first noticed this when i downloaded the camera app, VSCO. Not sure if this is whats causing it, but maybe someone can help me out. I've also tried media scan apps such as media scanner, scan media, rescan media...all did not work.

I am running android version 4.1.2

Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! Have you tried clearing the Gallery app's cache or data? After doing so, then reboot the phone. I believe upon reboot, it should scan storage for media files, and hopefully populate your Gallery with all of the photos that you transferred.

Hey B. Diddy...I just cleared the cache, and restarted the phone...no luck. The clear data says that if i do it i will lose all the files and stuff so i am reluctant on doing that. Any other ideas? Anyone? this is very annoying for me... any help would be great thanks

I can understand your hesitance, but I don't think you'd lose any of your photos--only thumbnail databases and other settings, but not the actual photo files. For example, on my Razr Maxx, I currently have 50 fullsized photos that I took using the camera (along with some videos) that display in the Gallery. In the App Info, though, the Data is listed as only 156 KB, so the Data clearly doesn't include the actual photo files.

You might try an alternate gallery app like QuickPic. It has a very nice interface, and is somewhat faster and smoother than the stock Gallery.
