Transferring a very large sms file

I tried to move a very large sms file using Samsung Smart Switch but it freezes up when it reaches the export of text messages. The file is upwards of 20gb in size. I don't want to elect to delete everything before 2 years (one of the options presented in Smart Switch).

I tried to use SMS back up and restore app by backing up my SMS file to Google Drive but that has been trying to restore for the last 2 days and is only at 12%. I'm 90% sure it will not complete the transfer.

I also tried to back up the entire phone to Google but it doesn't back up the texts and there doesn't seem to be any option to back it up either.

Can anyone recommend a way to move these texts over to my new S22 ultra? It's frustrating as apple has no limitations on how far back your messages go. They don't force you to delete your entire file or purge most of it just to move to a new phone. Surely android has a solution for people that want to move a large sms file? Thanks in advance for any help.

What app are you using to attempt this backup and restore? Have you tried My Backup Pro? While the pro version is/was just a trial and did cost, what made it special was that it could back-up individual conversations and individual messages. Just like whatever you're trying it backs these up to Google Drive. It used to be a 3 week trial but it may be different now.

Use the backup app but backup to local storage like an external SSD or flash drive.

SMS backup and restore pro ..my go-to app for many years ..you can backup to Drive or any other one you wish ...and works great with phone swapping and new phone activation

I did a large amount as well (need to clean up but I have a couple people I prefer keeping our history). From N20U Samsung to S22U Google, everything worked.

I used SmartSwitch connected via cable. I think that helped the speed. It still initially took quite a while on decent speed, followed by an estimate of like 8 hours to organize the data on my S22U... thankfully it went a lot faster than that. Chugged through messages then zipped through the rest.

Thank you everyone. I tried every option here and they all either fail or get hung up at a certain percentage transfer point. My texts work fine on my phone so I don't think it's corrupted or anything. Is it possible my entire SMS file is impossible to transfer over to new phone and I have to lose them all? This is very depressing because I have many years of texts many of which are very important to me. If anyone knows any other way to move this large file over to a new phone please let me know. I'm willing to do anything to keep my texts. Thank you
