My Evo has finally run into the kind of problem that will justify replacement. The USB port is warped and the phone will no longer charge. I've been paying for insurance, so I won't have to pay for my new Eo (I've BEEN paying for it for a while now).
Anyway, how do I backup all the crap on my rooted Evo so that I don't have to set up my new Evo from scratch? I've got Titanium (paid version).
I assume that it's fairly easy after I've managed to root the new phone. Am I wrong in this assumption?
Thanks gang.

Dude, sooooooo simple. Do a nandroid backup. Transfer file to your PC/Mac. Get new phone, root it, install the same custom recovery. If using TWRP or Amon, you will have to take the folders out of the folder containing your serial # and place it into your folder with your serial # from your new phone under your recovery. If not the restore will not update.

There won't be any problems with the Nandroid backup with file structures or anything on the new phone? I was always told that moving the backup file is bad. In this case, is it ok because I'm putting the file in the exact same folder with the exact same path?

Who ever told you its bad to move a nandroid backup is a . I always move my backups to my PC so I have a back up of them.

What recovery are you using?

I'm currently using Rom Manager. The problems I'm thinking of might have less to do with moving the file and more to do with renaming it. It's been a long time since I played with my phone in this manner.

I think what he was referring to is when switching phones with the backup. When doing a Nandroid that will be used a different phone don't backup the Wimax or just pull it from the backup if you already have one. As the Wimax isn't the same for each phone. It is perfectly save to move a backup to your pc/mac. I have around 20 from the time I started flashing roms and everything.

That is how I took it.

Ok since you are using rom manger you are using clockworkmod custom recovery. This recovery doesn't put your backup within a folder named with the serial number of your phone.

Here is what you will do.

1.Perform a backup if you haven't already.

2. Get new phone, out your SD card from old phone into the new phone. Download the needed files for revolutionary rooting tool on your PC.

3. When you root, you will be asked if you want to flash a custom recovery. At this time, please choose no as you can't use this recovery with the backup you have.

4. Once your phone is rooted and setup, download rom manager. Once open, it should say you don't have a current version of clockworkmod installed. It will ask you to install so do it at this time.

5. Ok now you have clockworkmod custom recovery on your phone. Now just go like you would be restoring a backup, you should beable to select what parts you want to be restored. You can restore everything besides WiMax.

6. Flash the restore and you are set to go. Any more questions just post up.
