Transferring pictures question

Is there a way to transfer my pictures from my lumia to the m8? It seems the m8 does not want to allow me to open the files after I sent them to the phone.

I have them in my dropbox, but I wanted to use some of them as contact and lock screen pictures.

I'm not familiar with Windows Phone at all, but are you able to connect the phone to your computer via USB and transfer the photos directly to your hard drive? If you do this, then it should be a simple matter of connecting your M8 afterwards, and transferring those photos to the M8's internal storage.

I emailed myself a few pictures and I get a triangle with an "!" in the middle of it when I open the file.
