Transferring video to Mac

Has anyone ran into problems transferring videos to their mac? When I mount with USB, iphoto automatically comes up and I transfer any photos I have taken. It says that the video cannot be transferred. Any ideas?

iPhoto doesn't like them for some reason, but if you open the Micro SD card in a Finder window and copy the video files over to your Mac, they will play fine (beautifully, in fact) in Quicktime when double clicked.
