Transformer GPS performance?

Hi,
Has anyone who has gotten a Transformer comment on the GPS performance?

How fast is it in locating your location via Google maps?
How is it at navigating/directions - for example, If you're sitting in the passenger seat of a car, is it good enough to do navigating/routing by?

Similarly, how's the accelerometer/compass performance?

This is one of the biggies I'm debating between Transformer and Galaxy Tab 10.1...
After the debacle that was my Samsung Vibrant's totally useless GPS antenna, I'm interested to hear some of your real world performance tests.

My GPS has been pretty good. It acquires a signal very quickly and is spot on. I still get a very small (yet accurate) blue circle in Google Maps, but navigation still loads and is ready to go.

Accelerometer is also great. I think the Tegra2 dual-core chip makes a huge difference as under normal conditions the device rotates instantly, noticibly faster than my phone (Droid X).

While i don't use it as much as my phone's Gps, i have tested both Google Map nav and CoPilot. Both work great.
Gps lock on pretty quick. I have never waited more than a minute for locks.

Since I have a Garmin in my car, dont use GPS that much on the TF, but when I have, it seems responsive and accurate.

I tried to use the GPS Navigation on my TF once and when I did, it said "data connection lost" once I walked out of my house. So I couldn't use it. I'm assuming I'm missing a step here? I've read I'm supposed to get it cached first, but I don't know how to do that.

Oh, well the time I used it I had my Nexus One at as a wireless hot spot.... not sure what you would do otherwise.

What were you using, google maps? Google maps depends on an internet connection for it's maps so that is likely why. If you set your route before you leave you should be ok as it will cache the map, but it's still not necessary the best option.

I ended up deciding to replace my banged up old tom tom with the transformer. For $5 I got copilot live with the entire US map. The map was downloaded to the transformer so it doesn't require a network connection to work. I tested it out and it's by far the best GPS I've every used. Gets a signal in about 5 seconds, and planning routes and making adjustments while driving are almost always instantaneous. The big test will be tomorrow when I go into the city as past gps units have really struggled.

Also, it's really nice having a giant and beautiful screen for your gps!

Actually worth Google Map, when you're connected to wifi and you planned your route it will cache the map tiles. Even after you lose your data connection navigation continue trip work. The draw back is you can't stray out of those tiles.
So if you need to plan a different route you're SOL

Aah, got it. Oh well, I don't really need the GPS feature on my TF. I already got 3 GPS devices - my Evo, Garmin 3790LMT, and the one that's built-in my car. Don't need a fourth one. Thanks for the replies.
