No. Modifying system files requires Root, I believe.

you can hide it in homescreen and toggle it with a gesture.
Transparent so that the screen shows through and only the icons can be seen would be cool though.
but most apps would just leave an empty space there(?) so itd be pointless even if it was possible

Good advice. I actually am using gesture to hide it, but Go has the option to use transparent notification bar if the phone supports it, so I didn't know if it was possible. Thanks for the help guys!

dammit i just gave up Go for Nova launcher lol. is it a new feature?
