Travel to UK

I'm off to the UK this summer for a few weeks. I have a Galaxy Nexus from Telus and this is my first trip outside North America with a smart phone. There's a lot of confusing info out there but at this point my plan is to get a local SIM since this seems by far the cheaper option. We are only going to be in the UK so is Vodafone the best option? I'm mostly concerned about data. Any advice from travel savy users?

Get a pay as you go T-Mobile UK sim card. You can get an unlimited (500 mb then throttled afterwards) internet booster which lasts for 30 days for ?5
