trouble connecting with mobile data...

first, i want to say i really enjoy this forum. so nice to ask a question and have ppl that can help!

now the problem. i will use last night as an example. i was downtown and had full bars for signal strength, and 4G for data. i had wifi off and mobile data on. i tried to send mail/get mail (k-9). nothing. just the icon indicating it was stuck trying. tried to sign onto facebook. nothing... same icon.

i looked for available wifi... had it, so i signed onto wifi and bam... mail flooded in. tried facebook. got right on.

a little more info, it isn't that i can never get mobile data, but it seems like it often has a very weak signal and struggles. it was struggling last night.

so... is there a setting i have wrong somewhere? is there a problem with my handset? since i am paying for mobile service, i sure would like to be able to use it when i need it! always worked perfectly with my blackberry. i guess i expect similar, lol.

There must be interference with something. Mobile data signals and cellular signals are different frequencies.

opx---interference where I was trying to use it? it is annoying how often it happens...and I hate using blackberry as an example, lol, but for this it sure worked flawlessly.

What's OPX? And the Vivid runs 4G HSPA+ and UTMS. Does the BlackBerry run 4G at all?

lol, my bad....an acronym for operation x...when replying I could not see the a7 and forgot it. anyway... knowing, and apologizing for sounding like an iPhone user, I don't know what blackberry used. all I know is it always worked, it was seemingly just as fast as this is, it had a killer keyboard, but rim killed it by not keeping up with apps. I made the switch, use Swype, love all the apps I can get now, but can't help but miss the bb when I am somewhere and can't get my mail over the mobile data connection. I mean, that is why I have a smart phone to begin with. this other stuff just makes me unable to ever live without one again. btw, and just for conversation, I think my next phone will be the glll. lol

I like BlackBerry too, they aren't bad, keyboard and businesd friendly. It could be just that there is no 4G around your area. And as for the Samsung Galaxy S III, it will be a great buy, but I'm waiting for the heat to go down. And also, sadly, I need 4 soft or hard buttons.
