I've been searching for threads related to watching movies but most of the information is scattered and sparse. I bough Star Trek on Blue Ray and it came with a digital copy; Windows Media or iTunes only. I found some threads describing changing formats AND frame rate? WTF? Isn't there something for playing HD movies other than streaming? I tried Rock player and yxplayer and no joy. What the heck is FLV format? I appreciate any help putting this all together!

I'm running rooted 2.2...

that fact of the matter is that HD movies, will be difficult to play on your phone. I can barely play 720p MKV files with rock player.... It gets better with Overclocking though...

Your best bet will be to convert it down to different file, such as an AVI or MP4, For this i recommend something like "format factory" or "handbreak"

Thanks guys.

Toast - Are you reverring to seismovision demo player? Is there a version for Android? Am I missing something? It's not in 'market.' I will keep looking.

LiquidJ - I have been playing around with handbreak, but it hangs on my laptop... I will check into f.f. Also, I tried the OC flash for AVA froyo v5, but wasn't sure if it was overclocking for frame rate kernel, or cpu overclocking... I'll keep digging. I will report back when I get a chance.

THANK YOU KINDLY FOR THE RESPONSES! I haven't been on a bb in a few years... since the P3 card was unlooped for DIRECTV!

Thanks guys.

and the kernel does both, fps and cpu =) both will help, but still too much for the snapdragon to process.. Dont return the phone on that alone though. Going the MP4 route will be your best bet on almost any device.

I don't think it's in the market, but it's called demo player (best imo, even shows the fps your getting) and it has a black square icon that says divX

I think I searched Google for it.

I couldn't locate demoplayer in the market either. I'm trying to view some m4v videos I purchased on iTunes on my newly acquired HTC Evo. Any tips on how to convert my library of purchased m4v videos so I can view them on my HTC Evo?

Tried handbrake and ffmpeg -- no joy converting m4v

I tried using handbrake and ffmpeg to convert my m4v files into mp4 files... assuming (I'm a newbie at android) that mp4 files would actually render on my HTC Evo. I cannot get either program to convert these m4v files into mp4 files, on my Windoze vista box. So I'm stuck at square one here.

Suggestions / solutions? Thanks in advance!

This shiny and sexy HTC Evo box has 28 days of eval left before it goes back in favor of a boring old brick phone...

I can't get my digital copies to work either but for all other movies I use dvdfab. It works awesome! I rip with dvd fab then just copy the file to my sd card and bam it works. I downloaded double twist player to watch the movies on because the stock player won't resume when you exit to check a text or something. But double twist does not have the zoom option that the stock player has.

you wont be able to convert "digital copies" trust me i have been going crazy tring to figure them out, i read on a different thread and you cant. they have DRM encryption. just like when you buy mp3's off of itunes, there is softwear out there that claims to remove it, but i had no luck, if anyone can correct me on this please do. :)
