Trouble shooting

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 - i535. I was using google maps to get home. I hooked the car charger up to my phone so it wouldn’t die and shortly after a text came through. I went to answer the text but my screen went black. I just assumed the battery died. Well I haven’t been able to get it to come dark on in years. Can someone tell me how to fix it.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you saying that this happened several years ago? Did you already try a new battery?
