I wiped my Epic just for kicks, and was in the process of reinstalling everything. I noticed that my work Exchange account wasn't syncing, and couldn't figure out why. Multiple deletes/reconfigs of the account made no difference.
Then I opened up my work email via OWA, and noticed an email message from the system indicating that I'd exceeded the 10 connections I'm allowed. This occurred because I had, indeed, as far as my corporate server was concerned connected more than 10 phones (although a few of them were seen more than once).
The email included instructions to resolve, which were simply to go into Options on the Web client, then to Phone, then to Mobile Phones. I deleted a few of the old phones that I no longer needed connections for, and voila! Success.
So, there you have it if you ever have the same problem. This is with an Exchange 2010 server, in case that matters.
