I bought the galaxy s5 on release day and have been very impressed with the phone coming from an HTC one x. Anyways, I bought an otterbox with it and quickly realized problems using the fingerprint sensor. In order to unlock you have to drag your finger down the screen, but when you do the edge of the otterbox makes getting your whole finger on the sensor very difficult. The only solution I have found is to very carefully roll your finger from front to back across the sensor. But this is very difficult to do with two hands and totally impossible to do with one hand. Aside from this i am very happy with the phone though. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Totaly agree with this post. otterbox is nice. but needs a slot for the finger to glide easily over the finger print sensor. if they had designed it with an indent in the bottom, right where your finger would have to slide down, i think that would have solved this. could have even had slightly raised bumps on ether side to further protect the phone. Although i think the big issue here is that they didn't want to make the bezel to thin near the charge port. not sure if a ridge on the underside would have solved this or not. thats up to an engineer somewhere to labor over, not me. :) If i didnt have to keep my otter box in one piece due to work, I would take a dremmel tool. or something, and try to grind down that bottem pice so my finder slides nicely over the sensor. OR if that didnt work i would remove that "bridge" piece all togeather, the back of the case should keep the thing ridgid enuf as it is without that pice. up to you though.

You might either need to stop using the Otterbox, get a new case, or not use the fingerprint scanner.
I had a case that made it harder to use the fingerprint scanner, so I went back to my old case which is actually more comfortable to use the fingerprint scanner than the naked phone

Otterbox made the Defender case specifically for the Gs5. I set the first of 3 fingerprints prior to putting it in the Otterbox. Do I have only 3 fingerprints that i can register for the life of the phone?
