Trouble Verifying Capital One Cards with Samsung Pay

I could use some help.

I have a new Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. I'm trying to set up Samsung Pay with two Capital One credit cards. I get to where Samsung Pay opens the Capital One app to verify my identity and it won't let me do so.

The problem seems to be coming from the Capital One app, as I also tried to do this with Google Pay, and the same problem happens.

So I do not think it's an issue with Samsung Pay. It's an issue with Cap One.

I've had the same credit cards working with Samsung Pay with previous phones so I have experience setting it up and using it frequently/daily.

Is anyone else having a problem verifying with Cap One, and if you resolved it or got it to work, I could use some help.

(By the way, I was on the phone with Cap One Customer Service twice and they tried to help unsuccessfully. They escalated it but still haven't heard back from them.)

Thanks.

open the capital one app for verification???? that is something new - with all the different cards I have, never had to do that, they just sent a verification code via email or messaging.

anyway, did you try opening the capital one app first before adding the card?

Are the cards imported from previous Samsung Pay back ups? If so, try removing the card and re-adding it. I added mine a few days ago and it went through OK (I hate that they're pretty much the only bank that forces you to download their app to verify, but oh well).

All banks must be different. My BMO harris check card, I had to call in to BMO and answer three questions about transactions I had made and then they activated the card.

Duplicate threads merged. It's best not to create multiple threads about the same issue in different subforums, because that leads to parallel discussions, which can be confusing for you and for other members.

my experience adding my capital one card to samsung pay on the s20 has been nothing short of a complete disaster. here's the saga:

add card to samsung pay. cap one: we need to verify via the cap one app. ok fine. open the capital one app. cap one: to verify, we need you to take a real-time picture of the front and back of your drivers license. ok....
done. "we cannot verify you at this time". then it says "pending" meanwhile, unknown to me, my card was suspended due to "suspicion of fraud" (physical card purchase declined at best buy). they never contacted me at all to let me know of potential fraud. on my own, i call the 800 number for capital one. it's flagged for fraud alright, but since we cannot verify you, we can't discuss it with you whatsoever. "it looks very serious though". to fix, send us: 1. a scan of your drivers license 2. a scan of a current utility bill 3. a scan of your social security card. ok....
done (despite serious privacy reservations. i was inclined to just close the account...)
capital one: we received your documents, will get back to you within 15 days.
today they called me to say everything checked out and my account was no longer suspended. then she asked if i tried to add the card to any mobile payment service recently. i told her about samsung pay and she seemed to understand the problem at that time and invited me to try to add it again. no thanks...

my bank done the same with they first started offering samsung pay. it took them a couple of months to change this.

I don't remember which card it was, but I've had the same issue. Called several times, they say everything is ok on their end, but card won't activate. This was Samsung Pay on my Note 10+. I just gave up eventually.
