Truly....how many hours am I required to charge a new android phone?

Hi everyone,
Just a quick one. I know this question has been asked too many times, but different answers from different forums have compelled me to ask this questions again (I'm sure to get the right answer from Android Central). I'm getting my Note 2 today, and I'm wondering how long I'd need to charge the battery for the first time. When i bought my first Note 2, the guy at the shop told me to charge it for 6hours. When i bought the second one, another person told me to charge it for 4hours. Another website also advised 24hours non-stop charging (very confusing). So my questions are:

1. How many hours am I required to charge my new Note 2 for the first time?
2. In case of any power outage while charging it for the first time, what do i do? Does it ruin anything (like my battery or phone)?

Charge it until it's fully charged, and if by some freak of nature you happen to lose power while charging then nothing will be ruined,, just use and run battery down to almost nothing and then charge up to full.

Note 2, it's true, ,size is everything!
