Trusted Device/Car Mode

I just got the Edge and I love it! I set up the Trusted Device to 'unlock' my phone with my car bluetooth. I have car mode installed. When I turn on the car my phone does automatically connect to the bluetooth BUT car mode does partly starts. What I mean by that the car mode screen wont come on until I unlock the phone. I have to swipe the screen for it to turn completely on. One time I forgot to swipe the screen when I got in the car, when I got to my destination I got the message regarding where I parked being as that is triggered via car mode so I know car mode is connected. BUT my problem is that car mode doesn't fully activate to allow for texts to be read aloud when I receive them. And obviously, I can't dictate a text to be sent. Is there a way to get car mode to fully engage once I am in the car without having to manually unlock the phone?? My s5 would without fail. I never had to unlock the screen for it to work fully. Just start the car then car mode would pop up on the screen.

No solution? I am thinking it may be more of an issue of car mode being as Pandora will start without me having to swipe the screen. Clearly the trusted device connection to unlock phone works.
