Trusted Devices?

Lollipop has a feature which allows you to keep your phone unlocked when paired with a Bluetooth device (aka, "trusted device"). The only trusted devices I've heard of that work reliably are Bluetooth in your car, Bluetooth headsets (or possibly speakers), and smart watches. Has anyone come up with something that will reliable transmit to your phone via Bluetooth that isn't so substantial? I thought Motorola's Keylink was the answer, but from what I've read it isn't highly rated and Motorola doesn't seem to be selling them anymore. I don't want to wear a headset all the time just to keep the phone unlocked, and a smart watch is a more than I want to pay and not really something I feel I need. I've found a few Bluetooth bracelets similar to fitness devices, but they don't seem to keep the connection steadily and, thus, don't work.

Has anyone come up with other options for a trusted device?

How about something like this? Adapt Bluetooth Headphone Adapter - OutdoorTechnology.com. It's a Bluetooth headphone adapter that's lightweight and can clip on to your clothes. You don't have to use it for headphones, but it's a nice feature.

Thanks for the link. That does look quite promising. Do you think it would connect with my phone even if earphones were not plugged in? I don't really want to use any kind of headset, nor do I want my calls to all go to speaker phone (thus, not interested in Bluetooth speakers as a trusted device). The size and the fact that it can be clipped on look like it would be ideal if it works. Thanks again!

I think it should work--it's the clip that's connecting, not the headphones, so I don't think you'd have to plug it in.

I actually have something similar to it (from Nokia), so let me see if I can dig it up and test it out. (Hopefully I can find it!)

I just tried it with what I have (Nokia BH-214), and it works fine as a Trusted Device without any headphones plugged into it. So you should be good.

Thank you SOOO much. I will definitely get one of these. I really appreciate your checking it out for me. I looked on Amazon and found several similar devices. In addition to the two you've mentioned in this thread (Nokia & Adapt), I found the following on Amazon:

Since you've tested the Nokia and it works, I might just get that since I now know it will work. They all have similar ratings, so I'll read some of the reviews to compare them a bit. Anyway, thanks for being so helpful. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Glad I could help. Another nice thing about the Nokia is that it's really lightweight. Those other devices probably are as well, but I know for sure the Nokia won't feel obtrusive if you have it clipped anywhere.
