Trying to find out what this app icon is

Well, that's intriguing. I thought my S8 did WiFi calling anyway but having read this thread and looked up where the setting is, that was disabled.
I've turned it on now and that results in a phone icon with a smaller WiFi graphic to the right - just like the WiFi icon itself.
At the top, from left to right, it comes second - after the alarm icon and immediately before the WiFi one.
It doesn't look like a person, but a phone.
But then I have Android 7 and the look of the icon might have changed in a later version.

It almost looks like a facebook friend request icon. Check in facebook and see if you have any pending friend requests.

When I took this, there were no "app notifications" so the left hand side is blank (not cut out of the picture).

The version of "Phone" on the device is 2.3.02.21.
