I want to use Duo on my Samsung S9 android cell.

I'm not attaching Duo to any organization. I simply want to contact people which I can do on win laptop. (https://duo.google.com/?usp=duo_ald)

The same URL does not work on cellphone as it goes to: duo.google.com/about
I have spent several hours trying to figure it out to no avail.

Thanks to all who help.

Hi , welcome to AC!
Which phone you have ? Most newer ones come pre installed or can download from Google play store

Welcome to Android Central! Are you trying to use Duo on the mobile browser? I don't think that will work on a phone. Are you saying that you don't want to install the Duo app on the phone?

Samsung S9

The android app appears that it wants to join an organization. I'm not affiliated with an organization nor do I want to be. I'm assuming the app is asking for a barcode for an organization. Google help sucks.

Typically, the easiest way to install the Google Duo app is just use the Play Store app on your S9. Start up the Play Store app and search for 'Google Duo'.

Or you can go to the Duo app page on the Play Store site:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.tachyon&hl=en_US&gl=US

Or if you live somewhere that the Google Play Store isn't available to the public (i.e. China), you'll need to sideload the installer APK for Google Duo. A reputable site for Android APKs is the APKMirror:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...5-0-357061281-dr125_rc01-g-release/#downloads
APKMirror claims to only provide only apk files that have been verified as legitimate and obtained from validated sources. You'll need to go into your Settings menu, find the option to enable installing apps from third-party sources (it's by default disabled since installing random apk files has to be done judiciously and intentionally), and then using a file manager app find the Downloads folder of your browser app. Then just tap on that apk file to install the app.

Duo app is installed. When it opens the camera is activated to take picture of a barcode. I don't have a barcode.

Just to be sure -- you didn't install Duo Mobile instead of Google Duo, right? Duo Mobile is a security token authentication app for use with organizations (I use it for my work).

Bingo I did not see Google Duo when I looked. It's there now and that's what I want. Thank you

LOL, that's great! I have both installed on my phone, and I've actually had brief instances where I confused the two.:p
