Trying to install VD OTA update but it keeps aborting

I have a rooted Optimus S running V9. I've been trying to update it to VD with the OTA update so I can re-root it and install a new ROM, but the OTA update keeps failing and aborting. When I reboot after the installation aborts, the phone believes there are no updates available. It's only a few weeks later when the phone starts to prompt me to update to VD again. Any ideas how I can get it to update to VD?

Use the Lgmobile updater tool

Forgot to say in my original post, I have a Mac, not a PC. Any way to do it on a Mac? Thanks.

For whatever reason, I downloaded the VD OTA and gingerbreak worked fine for me :3 root'd cwm recv and cm7 =\
