Trying to reset to factory settings

Hello.

I'm trying to wipe my Droid and it isn't working for me. If I go to PRIVACY settings and select reset to factory settings it locks and stays in the Motorola logo screen. The phone then gets pretty hot and I have to remove the battery. I let it stay like that about an hour.

If I hold the X key and the Power button same thing happens. Just gets hung up on the Motorola logo. I have to take out the battery and turn the phone on, but it turns on fine.

Any ideas?
