Can anyone tell me how I can root my Evo Shift "speedy" version? I tried to root it through unrevoked but it doesnt support my device and I'm guessing it's because of the early version of my phone. Can anyone give a newbie some advise please?

If you look in the rooting and roms section of this forum there are detailed instructions, however it is not for the faint of heart. It involves multiple reboots, SDK installs (and SDK prerequisites installs) and some command line work.

If you are looking for a one click root, you will be disappointed, but if you don't mind rolling up your sleeves and being elbow deep into a command line, continue.

Welcome to android :)

You realize that, other than the last post, this thread is about 5 months old, right? ShiftRR available when this thread was originally discussed. Also ShiftRR does not work for Gingerbread.. Which almost all new shift come with now.

Wrong again works great for Gingerbread I just did 3 shift evo's with GB

Yeah, it works great.. If you downgrade your hboot first, Otherwise your full of it. ShiftRR uses an old exploit that only works on the Froyo bootloader.

i am using 2.2, this should work to perm root...i am set up to temp root as I only want to root to tether my TouchPad. I have cancelled both ota's recently. I had some issues opening his application, but I figured it out using 7-zip. Now its telling me I have "an error running adb". I have ADB downloaded and in the root of my PC, Win 7, 64bit, dunno what else to do from here. Help?
