Trying to update to GB on Samsung Infuse using Kies - Computer stops recognizing phone

I just got my infuse yesterday and I'm trying to upgrade to the official GB release using Kies. My computer recognizes the phone and I can get to the point where the upgrade is downloading, but as soon as the download of the new software version is complete my USB stops recognizing the phone. Why is this?

I've done everything asked of me at this link: How Do I Update My Infuse 4G (SGH-i997) Mobile Device to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Operating System? : AT&T Cell Phones | Samsung
but I still keep having this problem over and over again. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have had a similar problem with other devices in different situations, so this could be way off but....

Is your phone plug directly to the USB port on your computer or are you using a usb hub? If you are using the usb hub, plug it directly into your computer. Sometimes hubs just give fits in these sort of situations.

All my problems went away in my different scenarios when I started to do updates through the usb port directly attached to the computer.

I FINALLY got the update to GB after following this thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-samsung-infuse/152074-help-kies-mini-3.html and, I'm ashamed to admit I do think it was my USB cable. I dug around and found another and it worked fine, not sure what was wrong with the originally used USB cable but I'm now running GB so yay
